AUSTSWIM National Aquatic Education Conference 2009

Swimming and water safety and 30 years were the celebrative theme for the Annual AUSTSWIM National Aquatic Education Conference 2009, held amongst the majestic palms and manicured gardens of the Radisson Resort, Gold Coast – Queensland. Ideally located on Palm Meadows Golf Course, set among fairways, lakes and trees. Only 10 minutes from Broadbeach, the resort is far enough from the distractions, yet just minutes from the action proving to the perfect venue to host the 300+ delegates.

The Conference was offi cially opened on Saturday the 4th of July 2009 by AUSTSWIM Chairman Kirk Marks bringing the 300+ attendees up to speed with the latest AUSTSWIM news, presenting a historical view of AUSTSWIM ‘30 years and Growing’ followed by inspiring and motivating AUSTSWIM Ambassador Brooke Hanson as the Keynote speaker.

TThe 33 sessions held over the 2 days catered for all aspects of swimming and water safety programs including infants, school aged children, people with a disability and adults with an informative and interactive program featuring highly-respected speakers from around the country and internationally.

During the breaks delegates had the opportunity to meet and network with swimming teachers, swim school coordinators/owners plus purchase a bargain from our extensive trade exhibitors and meet Geoff Huegill and Brooke Hanson. Trade exhibitors, included:

The highlight of the Conference was no dubitably the evocative and motivational keynote address from Olympic medallist, AUSTSWIM ambassador and mum to be, Brooke Hanson.

Brooke displayed the charming, high spirited personality, sense of humour and his zest for life which has made her who she is today.
