Is AUSTSWIM?
AUSTSWIM is the Australian Council for the Teaching of Swimming
and Water Safety™. It has a representation in each state and territory of
Australia. AUSTSWIM is a non-profit organisation.
The AUSTSWIM Council comprises an independent Chairperson, a member
from each Business Centre and a representative from the following organisations:


Vision
Every Australian will be taught to swim by an accredited AUSTSWIM teacher™,
enabling them to safely enjoy aquatic environments and activities.

Philosophy
AUSTSWIM has a strong philosophy that is founded on the belief that all Australians should have
appropriate and relevant swimming and water safety skills and understand the principles and
practices of water safety.

Our values provide a guide and a benchmark for the board, management, staff and volunteers
of AUSTSWIM to measure their individual and organisational behaviours.

Partnerships
AUSTSWIM has established strategic partnerships with a representative
on the following committees:
- Australian Water Safety Council
- Community Recreation Council of Australia
- Standards Australia Committee on flotation aids for water
familiarisation and swimming tuition
- World Aquatic Babies Congress.

International
Affiliations
AUSTSWIM also has established alliances with organisations in New
Zealand, Dubai, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom
and the United States of America.
