Conferences

This year’s State Annual Conference was held at Joondalup Resort on Sunday 11 October and was a huge success. All that participated, Delegates, Official Guests and Trade Exhibitors thoroughly enjoyed the day and are looking forward to next year’s Conference already.
The Conference was officially opened by the Hon Barry House, Member for the South West and
President of the Legislative Council. It was an honour to have the Hon Barry House, officially open the State Annual Conference for 2009, who welcomed and acknowledged all that were in participation and acknowledged all aquatic personnel for their valued and important contribution that they input into the communities around Western Australia.
There were also a number of other highlights for this year’s conference that stood out:
- The venue was simply sensational, which assisted lifting the bar for the learn to swim industry Conference and AUSTSWIM.
- The programme this year was a busy program, but well established and organised and offered
delegates with the exclusive opportunity to experience a high caliber of Guest Presenters presentations that were engaging, interesting and relevant to all that attended.
- The trade display was something that hasn’t been seen in years. AUSTSWIM invited a variety of industries that while not directly associated with learn to swim, were selected as necessary
organisations for the industry to operate and were all very well perceived from the delegate and Trade partners. Each Trade Exhibitors were visited by ALL delegates with a ‘trade passport’ to be stamped, which gave delegates the opportunity to then go into the draw to win fabulous prizes at the end of the day, which were kindly donated by Conference Partners and Trade Exhibitors. Some prizes were to the value of $400 which was a fantastic opportunity for all to receive.
- The State Awards Ceremony and ‘Sundowner Event’ at the end of the day was also very successful, with Jim Piper (ex-Olympian swimmer) awarding the WA AUSTSWIM State Awards to all awards recipients.
