Teacher Recognition Scheme

How to enrol

In order to become an accredited AUSTSWIM teacher™, you will need to complete the AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety™ course. This is the base accreditation that you must gain before you can attempt any of the AUSTSWIM extension courses.

Step 1

Find out about course requirements.

 

Step 2

Find a course date and location you wish to attend.

 

Step 3

To book your chosen course from the course calendar you can either:

  • Enrol online, or
  • Download the enrolment form via the course calendar. Please ensure all sections are completed correctly. Fax or mail your enrolment form to us with enrolment fees enclosed.
                        
                         You will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed
                         on your computer to be able to view these PDF files. Please note that PDF
                         files make take a couple of minutes to download depending on your connection speed.

Step 4

When your enrolment has been received and processed, you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail. Please check all details (locations, times, dates) to ensure they are correct. A list of what you will need to bring to the course will also be included. If you chose to complete Part 1 via CD ROM, you will also receive the CD, a course manual, and a course resource folder.

 

AUSTSWIM advises that course details are subject to change and every attempt will be made to advise candidates. Updates can be found under the Find a Course link. In the event of the course being cancelled due to insufficient enrolments candidates will be offered a full refund or may elect to transfer to another course without penalty.

International Applicants

International applicants who hold an international swimming qualification may be eligible to gain some recognition of prior learning towards the AUSTSWIM Teacher of swimming and Water Safetey certificate. Please click here to find out more.


Tasmanian AUSTSWIM State Awards

The Tasmanian AUSTSWIM state Awards recognise those individuals and organisations who have been nominated in their specific field as making a significant contribution to learn to swim and water safety in Tasmania.


There will be six Award categories for the 2009 - 2010 TAS state AUSTSWIM Awards:

• TAS AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Award
• TAS AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant and Preschool Aquatics Award
• TAS AUSTSWIM Teacher of People with a Disability Award

• TAS Presenter of the Year Award

• TAS AUSTSWIM Swimming and Water Safety School of the Year Award

• TAS Most Outstanding Contribution to AUSTSWIM Award

Remember without your nominations there is no way for us to recognise those individuals and organisations that are committed to making a difference in learn to swim and water safety. Don’t just think about nominating someone!
